The cost is not the camera. It is how many days we are on site, how many people we are filming, how many finished video assets you need at the end, and how far we have to travel to get them.

Change any one of those and the number moves. So rather than make you ask, here is what the work actually costs.

The numbers

What each kind of video costs.

All prices + GST.

Photography, full day

Eight hours on site, one photographer, one location. Edited images included, no separate editing charge.

$2,000 to $4,000

Customer testimonial

One location, one or two people on camera, a two to three minute finished video asset plus social cuts.

$2,500 to $6,000

Video News Release (VNR)

Two hours on site, one Director of Photography. Interview grabs and b-roll cut to broadcast standards, supplied unbranded so a newsroom can run it.

$2,750 to $5,000

Executive piece to camera

A half to full day, one or two executives, one location. Autocue and delivery coaching included.

$2,800 to $8,000

Corporate video

The standard build. One shoot day, a Director of Photography and a producer, a main video asset and a set of social cuts.

$3,000 to $12,000

Case study

The problem, the fix and the results. Two to four interviews plus b-roll, usually across one or two sites.

$3,500 to $12,000

Brand story

One shoot day, a hero video asset of 60 to 90 seconds, four social cutdowns, up to three people on camera.

$5,500 to $12,000

Employer brand and recruitment

Why people work there, in their own words. Staff interviews plus workplace b-roll, a hero video asset and cuts for careers pages and LinkedIn.

$5,500 to $12,000

Event and conference

Half day through to multi-day. Could be an event sizzle, highlight reels, social cuts or vox pops, depending on what you need.

$3,000 to $20,000

Bigger builds are quoted per job. If your budget is set, tell us the number. We will tell you honestly what it buys and what it will not, before anyone books a day.

The detail

What moves the number.

Six things, in the order they matter.

01

Days on site

A half day and a full day are not far apart on paper. The difference is how much you get in the can, and that flows straight through to the edit.

02

How many people we are filming

Three interviews in one place is a different day to three interviews in three buildings.

03

How many locations

Moving a crew is the quiet cost. Two sites in a day usually means less filmed at both.

04

What the crew needs to be

A Director of Photography and a producer covers most corporate work. Panels, live events and anything going to broadcast need proper multi-channel sound, which is its own line.

05

How many finished video assets you want

One hero video asset and four social cuts is a different edit to one video asset. This is the part people underestimate.

06

How fast you need it

A tight deadline is usually possible and it carries a premium. Tell us the date early and we will work to it.

Travel outside Sydney adds a travel day per crew member plus mileage. We will always show it as its own line, never buried.

Straight up

What is not in those numbers.

Most quotes hide this until the invoice. Here is what sits outside the price and when it applies.

Travel outside Sydney
A travel day per crew member plus mileage. Always its own line, never buried in a total.
A dedicated sound engineer
Basic audio is inside every shoot day. A panel, a live event or anything going to broadcast needs proper multi-channel sound, which is a separate line.
Drone
Added when it earns its place in the edit. Restricted airspace needs approvals, and we will tell you before you book.
A rush turnaround
A tight deadline is usually possible and it carries a premium. Tell us the date early and we will build the day around it.
Talent and studio hire
Only when the brief needs them. Passed through at cost with the management fee applied, and shown as their own lines. Music licensing is included.

The honest bit

What you are actually paying for.

The shoot day is the part you can see. It is not the part that makes a job run.

The rest of the number covers booking and managing the crew, the schedules and call sheets, licensing, insurance and the legal paperwork, managing the edit through to sign-off, and the kit we do not itemise. On a job with several locations and a deadline, that is most of the work.

We show it as a production management line on every quote rather than burying it in a day rate, so you can see exactly what it is. Industry standard is 15 to 30 per cent.

What it looks like

Work at these numbers.

Real jobs, not mock-ups. Each one opens its own page with the video, the brief and what came out of it.

If you are getting three quotes

How to compare them properly.

Two quotes for the same brief can be thousands apart and both be fair. Usually they are not the same job. Five things to ask, whoever you end up using.

  1. How many hours on site, not "a day"

A four hour call and a ten hour call are both sold as a shoot day. Ask for the hours and the two quotes stop being comparable on price alone.

  2. Who is actually coming

One operator, or a Director of Photography and a producer. It is the biggest single difference between two quotes for the same brief.

  3. How many finished video assets you get

One video asset, or a hero video asset and six cuts sized for your channels. The edit is where quotes quietly diverge.

  4. How many rounds of changes are included

Two is fair. One means you pay for the second, and that is where a cheap quote catches up with you.

  5. Whether the number is fixed

An estimate can move. Ask whether the figure you approve is the figure on the invoice. Ours is.

Good to know

Common questions.

How much does a corporate video cost in Sydney?

Most land between $2,500 and $20,000 + GST. A half day with one person on camera sits at the bottom. A multi-day shoot across several locations sits at the top. The table above breaks it down by the kind of video.

Why do video quotes vary so much for the same job?

Usually because they are not the same job. One quote might be a single operator for four hours with a quick edit. Another might be a Director of Photography and a producer for a full day with a hero video asset and six cutdowns. Ask what is on the day and how many finished video assets you get, and the quotes become comparable.

Do you charge by the hour or by the project?

By the project. You get one number before we start, and it covers planning, the shoot, the edit and two rounds of changes. We would rather you knew the figure up front than watched a meter run.

What is included in the price?

Planning and the shot list, the crew and kit for the day, the edit, two rounds of changes, and social cutdowns sized for your channels. Travel outside Sydney, a dedicated sound engineer and drone are named lines when the job needs them.

Is GST included?

Every figure on this page is + GST.

What if I need it quickly?

A tight deadline is usually possible and it carries a premium. Tell us the date as early as you can and we will build the day around it.

Do you film outside Sydney?

Yes, right across Australia. It adds a travel day per crew member plus mileage, and both appear as their own lines on the quote.

Why is video production more expensive in Sydney?

Crew, kit and locations all cost more here than in most of the country, and parking and access on a CBD shoot add time before a camera turns over. The gap is real but it is smaller than people expect, and it disappears entirely if you are filming several things on the one day.

What is the cheapest way to get good video made?

Film more than one thing on the day. The crew, the setup and the travel are the same whether you come away with one video asset or four. Most of the value on a shoot day is in what else you capture while everything is already standing.
