What an employer brand video is

An employer brand video shows what it's actually like to work at your organisation. Your own people, your own spaces, in their own words. It's the film someone watches before they decide whether to apply, and the one your current staff watch and think, yes, that's us.

It isn't a job ad. A job ad lists a role. An employer brand video sells the place. That's why one film keeps working long after a specific role is filled, and why it does as much for the people you already have as the ones you're trying to attract.

Employer brand video and EVP video, what's the difference

People use the two terms for the same thing, so it's worth being clear.

Your employee value proposition, or EVP, is the promise you make to the people who work for you. What they get, what's expected, why it's worth it. An EVP video puts that promise on screen so it lands as something people feel, rather than something they read on a slide.

Employer brand is the wider picture. It's how you're seen as a place to work, by the people you want and the people you've already got. Employer brand video covers the EVP film and everything around it: culture pieces, employee stories, leader messages. If you're hiring for specific roles right now, see our recruitment video work.

The films that make up an employer brand suite

Most teams start with one film and grow into a set. We'll help you work out which one earns its place first, or film a small suite across a single day.

EVP film

Your employee value proposition on screen. The promise you make to your people, said by the people living it.

Culture film

The hero piece for your careers page. Real people, real spaces, the feel of the place in 60 to 90 seconds.

Employee stories

Your own staff on why they stay. Honest and unscripted, the proof candidates trust most.

Leader message

Your CEO or an executive on where the organisation is heading, and what that means for the people in it.

How we get real answers out of your people

The whole thing falls over if your staff sound coached. Candidates spot it straight away, and so does everyone who already works for you.

Our crew came up through live broadcast news, including a decade at Network Ten. Getting a nervous person to say something true, in one take, with a camera pointed at them, is the job we've been doing for twenty years. We keep the set small, we keep it calm, and we ask questions rather than hand people lines.

We film your real staff, never actors. That's the whole point.

How the job runs

Set and forget. You brief us once, we run the rest.

    We plan the day

Running order agreed, the people and the spaces locked, and a call sheet out so everyone knows where to be and when.

  3. 03

    We film on your sites

A small crew working around your teams, so the day doesn't stop and nobody sits waiting on us.

  4. 04

The cut goes to Frame.io and your HR, comms and brand people leave notes right on the video. Two rounds are built in.

Where an employer brand video earns its keep

One shoot, cut for every place someone meets you as an employer.

  • Your careers page, as the hero film.
  • LinkedIn and paid social, reaching good people who aren't actively looking.
  • SEEK and job ads, as short role specific cuts.
  • Onboarding, so a new starter feels it before day one.
  • Campus days and career fairs, on the stand.
  • Your intranet and all staff channels, where it reminds current people why they stayed.
  • Tenders and client pitches, where how you treat your people is part of the answer.

Financial services

Culture pieces that show the reality behind a name candidates only know from the outside.

Government

Employer brand video for agencies attracting people across departments and multiple sites.

Technology

Fast, honest films for teams competing for engineers and product people.

Healthcare

Films that show care teams the reality of the ward, the roster and the support around them.

Retail and hospitality

Energetic day in the life cuts for high volume roles and big seasonal intakes.

What we need from you

Not much, and we'll tell you early so nothing lands on you the week of the shoot.

  • A rough idea of the people you want to hear from, and the roles you're trying to fill.
  • Your EVP or people strategy if it's written down. If it isn't, we'll work it out on the call.
  • Access to the spaces you want on camera, and one contact on the day.
  • Your brand assets, so the finished films match everything else you put out.
  • Sign-off on who features, before we film.

Behind the scenes

We make the hard part look easy.

Why Zarco Creative for employer brand video

Jess runs your job start to finish, so you've got one person to talk to rather than an account team. Oscar is Director of Photography on the shoot. We've filmed for PwC, Chartered Accountants ANZ, Sennheiser, Bunnings, Australian Turf Club and Penfolds, so people are comfortable putting their own staff in front of our camera.

We're set up for multi site and interstate filming, so a national employer gets one crew and one look across every office. See how this sits alongside our corporate video production and internal communications video.

Good to know

Questions, answered.

What is an employer brand video?

It's a short film that shows what it's really like to work at your organisation. Your own staff, your own spaces, in their own words. It sits on your careers page and across social, and it does the talking a job ad can't.

What's the difference between an employer brand video and an EVP video?

An EVP video puts one specific thing on screen: the promise you make to people who work for you. Employer brand video is the wider set, covering the EVP film plus culture pieces, employee stories and leader messages. Most teams start with the EVP film and build out from there.

What's the difference between an employer brand video and a recruitment video?

An employer brand video sells the place. A recruitment video sells a role. The employer brand film keeps working long after a specific job is filled, which is why it's usually the one to make first. We make both, and we'll tell you which one your situation actually needs.

How much does an employer brand video cost in Sydney?

It depends on how many films you need, how many sites and days, and how many cuts come off the shoot. A single EVP film is very different to a full suite across offices. Tell us the roles and the sites and we'll come back with a fixed quote. Get in touch.

How long should an employer brand video be?

The hero film for your careers page usually lands between 60 and 90 seconds. Employee stories often run a little longer. Social cuts are shorter, often 15 to 30 seconds. We cut the long film and the short versions from the one shoot.

Do you use real employees or actors?

Real employees, always. Candidates can tell when something's staged, and so can your current staff. Our job is to get honest, warm answers out of your people, and years of live news experience means we do that fast.

How long does it take from brief to final files?

Most jobs run a few weeks. Filming is usually a single day, then we edit with two rounds of review built in. If you're working to a hiring deadline or a launch date, tell us early and we'll plan back from it.

How many people do we need on camera?

Fewer than you'd think. Four to six people across different roles and levels usually gives us enough range for a culture film plus a set of employee stories. What matters is that they're genuinely happy to be there.

What if our staff are nervous on camera?

Most of them will be, and that's normal. We keep the crew small, we don't hand out scripts, and we start with easy questions until people forget the camera is there. Settling nervous people quickly is the part broadcast news teaches you.

Do we need a written EVP before we start?

No. If you've got one, we'll build the film around it. If you haven't, we'll work out what your promise actually is on the first call, from what your people already say about the place. Plenty of good employer brand films come out of organisations that never wrote it down.

Can you film across multiple Sydney sites or interstate?

Yes. We're based in Sydney and film across the CBD, North Sydney, Macquarie Park, Parramatta, the Inner West and greater NSW, plus interstate for national employers. You get one crew and one consistent look across every site.

How many rounds of revisions do we get?

Two rounds are built into every job. We deliver through Frame.io so your HR, comms and brand people can leave notes right on the video and nothing gets lost. We'll flag it early if a change is bigger than a revision.

Where should we put the video once it's made?

Your careers page first, as the hero. Then LinkedIn and paid social to reach people who aren't actively looking, short cuts in your job ads, and the full film in onboarding. It's also worth putting in front of current staff, who are the audience most people forget.

Why Zarco Creative for employer brand video?

We came up through live broadcast news at Network Ten, so getting a real answer out of a nervous person is second nature. We've filmed for teams like PwC, Chartered Accountants ANZ, Sennheiser and Bunnings, and Jess runs your job start to finish as your single point of contact.
