What it is
A sizzle reel is the energy of the day, cut to music. The arrivals, the applause, the big moment on stage and the faces in the crowd.
It isn't the full story of the day. It's the feeling, short enough that people watch to the end and want to be at the next one.
Both come from the same day and the same footage. They do two different jobs, and plenty of events get both.
| Sizzle reel | Highlight reel | |
|---|---|---|
| Length | 60 seconds or less | Two to three minutes |
| What it gives you | The feeling of the day | The full story of the day |
| What carries it | Music, cut to the beat | Speakers and guests in their own words |
| What's in it | The biggest moments, the crowd and the energy | Arrivals, keynotes, sessions, conversations and the close |
| Best for | Social, ticket sales and sponsor pitches | Members, staff, boards and anyone who missed it |
| Turnaround | Within seven days, or faster if needed | Within 10 business days, or faster |
Spotlight · UDIA NSW
The UDIA NSW Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner, black tie in the ICC Sydney ballroom. The brief: a one minute sizzle reel, three 30 second vertical cuts for Instagram and LinkedIn, and four vox pops.
Ella Blundell from UDIA NSW, after the films went out: “All the videos had great engagement.”
Send the date, the venue and where the reel will live. You'll get one fixed quote, usually within one business day.
How we work
Five stages, all handled. You send the run sheet and give your feedback. We run the rest.
Tell us the goal, the audience and the deadline once. Jess turns it into a scope, a plan and a fixed quote, so you know what you’re getting before anything is locked in.
We plan the shoot, shape the key messages with you, build the shot lists and lock the call sheet before anyone films. Locations, talent and logistics are handled, and we coach anyone nervous about being on camera.
An experienced crew runs the day to the call sheet and settles people on camera fast. Broadcast-grade cameras, audio and lighting, with backups for the backups. We came up through live news, so calm under pressure is the default.
We edit and finish, then send the cut through Frame.io so you comment straight on the frame. Two rounds of changes are built in. Social cutdowns are planned from the start, so one shoot works everywhere.
You get the final files in the formats you need, ready to go across every channel. They’re yours to use anywhere, for as long as you like.
How we make it
We shoot with the reel in mind from the first frame. The big moments come off your run sheet, and the crowd fills the gaps between them.
The same crew can cut a highlight reel and social clips from the same day.
What goes into one
All the videos had great engagement. We loved the content that was captured for the overview video. Gave a great sense of the night.
I’m really relaxed. Even the events I’m not present at, I’m not worried at all.
They make our attendees feel comfortable on camera, find solutions and ways to maximise on content during the day.
Send the date and the venue. We'll come back with one fixed quote, usually within one business day.
Good to know
60 seconds or less. It's long enough to carry the day and short enough to watch to the end. If you want the full story of the day, that's a highlight reel, which runs two to three minutes.

Within seven days, or faster if needed. On a tight deadline? We can turn an edit around in 48 hours. We agree the date with you up front and put it in the quote.
Not much. The date, the venue and the run sheet, even a rough one. If something's missing, Jess will call and ask rather than send you a form. You'll hear back within one business day.
Less than you'd think. A short brief call and the run sheet, then two rounds of notes on the edit. Jess books the crew and sends the call sheet. On the day, you look after your guests.
Yes. Tell us at the briefing and we'll film with vertical in mind, so nobody loses their head in the reframe. See event social media video.
