Schweppes All Aged Stakes Day at Royal Randwick. A full race day that turns into a music event, so the film has to carry both without feeling like two films stapled together.
We covered the racing first: the mounting yard, the jockeys, the run to the line and the trophy. Then the rest of the day, the fashion, the marquees and the crowd, through to a stage set and thousands of people in front of it.
Racing and a music festival are two different jobs and they usually look like it. What ties this one together is the order we shot it in: the sport first, so the party at the end reads as the same day rather than a separate event bolted on. The schedule moved more than once and the crew moved with it.
