A profile film for Distinguished Professor Ian Paulsen, recognised for Excellence in Biological Sciences at the 2024 NSW Premier's Prizes for Science and Engineering. Played to a room at Government House and used afterwards.
We filmed him where the work happens, in the ARC Centre of Excellence in Synthetic Biology at Macquarie University. The interview runs over the lab itself: plates and samples, the biosafety cabinets, his researchers at the bench. Government work has its own approval chain and its own tolerance for error, so the file that arrives has to be right the first time.
